RargoRargo
Hailing from Port Macquarie on the state's Mid-North Coast, Rargo is an ex citing and innovative four piece ensemble fusing together the genres of reggae, funk, jazz and pop to create a unique sound they can rightfully call their own. Fronted by twenty-year-old Patrick (Patty) Bolster, the band has brought their collection of originals to stages in Sydney over the last few months, always being met with enthusiasm and intrigue... Whilst Patty's voice exudes the influence of Jazz and Folk, sounds of Angus Stone and Coldplay’s Chris Martin can be heard in his set. However, his vocal charisma can only be fully appreciated after hearing him sing. The musical styling of highly acclaimed saxophonist Caleb Schrader adds a sexy and mature edge to the band’s sound, while bassist Alistair McCulloch and drummer Joe Kernahan are the driving force behind Rargo’s tight and professional air. The result is a groovy and energetic sound that these guys love playing to audiences of all ages. Their refreshing new sound is sure to turn heads as recordings become available and word spreads of this unique arrival to the music scene.

His Merry MenHis Merry Men
Born of Funk and Soul, His Merry Men are now too hot to be contained by just one genre. The band contemporise a classic, ol'school sound with influences from Surf Rock, Electronica and Hip Hop. Regardless of genre, His Merry Men bring a fat, 9-piece sound and dance party attitude to every gig. They sport suave outfits, face melting dance moves and a dynamite 4-piece horn section, the 'Hell Yeah Horns'. “His Merry Men wowed the crowd. No encouragement from the band was needed to get punters up the front grooving.” Emergenza Band Comp.

"A rainbow wall of prettiness - like any piece of good art, it'll capture you for that brief, but striking moment" - sputnikmusic "If you are in search of a precisely produced, sweepingly cinematic, post-rock album then search no further" - The Silent Ballet "Within a post-rock framework Sleepmakeswaves have created an EP that is dynamic, bombastic and above all, mesmerising. The music sweeps from delicately-textured ambience to shattering metallic riffage and back again in the blink of an eye, held together and underpinned by driving rhythms and delicious melodies" - OzProg

Stella GreenStella Green
Stellar Green, is an Australian rock band from Gold Coast, formed in 2008. The band is composed of (lead singer/guitarist) Andrew Wellstead, (drums/percussionist) Sean Dalton and (bass/vocalist) Fabio Dos Reis. Shaped and drawing from various influences, from the bright, fast, gritty surroundings; Stellar Green blends the prescribed mixture for well-structured, high-energy, alternative rock with catchy melodies, soulful timbre, filling groove and big sounds. Their sound is not of one genre, their instruments are not fixed to a certain style, their mind is open to bring character and personality from their own influences that vastly differ from one another. Stellar Green have been able to form a sound that is diverse and radio-friendly, and yet is densely layered with modern genres and raw, new wave ideas – shown in their upcoming self-titled Debut Record released in 2011. Now standing with several festivals in the bag, including Big Day Out 2012 and many shows up and down the Coast of Australia, the completion of the EP and a national tour – the hardworking power Trio have started to build a response to their distinct and somewhat unique sound on the local live circuit. Always pushing themselves with help and influence from the various faces and talent around them, the boys are celebrating what is potentially the start of something big; Not only in the local music scenes but in actions of man in general. ‘Impressive Gold Coast band with a killer sound’ Bec Dent – (T.V and Radio personaility) Southern Cross Media

The LyricalThe Lyrical

A growing fan base all over the east coast is being "touched by the sheer emotional power of The Lyrical's live show." Winning the "People's Choice Award" in the converted "BLUESFEST Busking over Byron Competition" in 2010 and again in 2011 , and one of the most talked about live acts at last years hugely sucessful and sold out FOTSUN , The Lyrical (Karl Smith), is fast becoming one of Brisbane's most promising artists. With his "Unique blend of beatboxing meshed with folk guitar and socially conscious lyrics,"(City News) The Lyrical is the official king of The Brunswick St Valley Mall after also winning the inaugural 2008 Valley Markets Busking Competition. This epic boost to his profile, in turn, quickly led him to collaborate with the funky island rhyth ms of lead percussionist, Stanley Longtime, and the funky grooves of bass player, Kieran "Woodie" Coates to create what is now a renowned positive vibe and acoustic, "ROOTS-HOP REGGAE" sound that embodies what is quickly becoming a very familiar name... with Cleveland Blues and the Red Eyed Junction This band ain't ya regular 12 bar blues if that’s what you're thinking! Jimmy Watts BandJimmy Watts Band
Born and raised in Toowoomba, Jimmy Watts is a soulful, grass roots, travelling bluesman. He's got a heart as big as Phar Lap's that he pours out every night into a microphone, a guitar and a harp. He's raw, intense, and leaves nothing in reserve when he's on the boards. His self taught finger-picking style is a furious assault on the long beaten and bloodied bodies of his acoustics, slides, electric and banjo. And his gravely, smoke filled vocals and roaring harmonicas only add insult to their injuries. Backed by either his foot percussion, or his band of many misfits all with talent and chops to spare. He is a unique and original gentleman of the road and a journeyman through and through. Chances are, he's coming to a pub, bar, party, club, cafe, barn, bistro, dive, truck stop or shindig near you!

Shaun KirkShaun Kirk
Having only picked up a guitar for the first time in 2004 at age 16, Melbourne born Shaun Kirk has achieved a great deal in such a short time. Discovering a gift for story telling and an undeniable connection with the guitar, Shaun won the 2006 Basin Music Festival Youth Songwriting Competition. 2008 saw the release of his first independent EP, 'Seagulls' and in January 2010 Shaun launched his award winning debut album, 'Cruisin'; to a capacity crowd, closely followed by his first national tour. 'Cruisin' demonstrates Shaun's increasing professional maturity and passion for the blues/roots style. Featuring five self penned tracks taken from life experiences and three covers from classic, new and local influences, showing Shaun's "sense of tradition"- (Lloyd Spiegel) for the genre. Although based in blues/roots and folk, Shaun's sound is "authentic, exciting and compelling" - (John Carver - PBS FM). Whilst his influences range from Bob Dylan, Robert Johnson, Ray Charles, Howlin' Wolf, Jeff Lang and John Lee Hooker, Shaun continues to develop h is own sound; mixing his natural groove with elements of other musical styles, and is now one of the country's hardest working independent solo artists. Shaun's strong, distinctive vocal has been described as "a killer voice"- (Nick Charles), however his unique style of swamp/boogie blues and soul extends far beyond his vocals, with an energetic combination of guitar, harmonica and foot percussion. Together, his music and heart felt lyrics create a captivating experience for his audience whenever he takes the stage…it is somewhat difficult to believe it is only one man producing this truly complex sound. Dedication to his art and hard work has earned Shaun numerous radio and TV appearances and is now receiving regular airplay across the country on community stations and well recognised programs such as the ABC with 'Cruisin' climbing as high as #5 on the national blues/roots airplay charts. With constant performances to large crowds on some of Australia's best known stages including St Kilda Festival and Queenscliff Music Festival, Shaun has also supported and played alongside many of Australia's best blues/roots artists such as Ash Grunwald, Dallas Frasca, Marshall & The Fro, Lloyd Spiegel, Carus Thompson and Jimi Hocking just to name a few… Shaun's reputation as one of Australia's most promising upcoming artist is growing bigger day by day. "Shaun has a vocal range I could only dream of having. He is always a pleasure to listen to!" - Dallas Frasca (2010 OZ Music Awards Artist of the Year) We all have our ideas about what the blues is but as soon as we think we have a handle on the music, where it's come from and where it's going along comes someone like Shaun Kirk who blows away all our preconceptions. Watch out for this fellow - before too long he'll be influencing the next generation of performers." - Matthew Fredricks (PBS FM)

Matt Dean and the Rhythm SectMatt Dean and the Rhythm Sect
We're living in an era of over processed, corporation fuelled garbage that is being sold off as "music". With the exception of a few, one of the richest, most powerful musical genres (Rock) has been sucked dry of its vibrancy. However, when you listen to Matt Dean and Rhythm Sect you will see that there are still people rekindling the life into truly soulful music. They have never stopped making their music feel like something real, something accessible. Matts voice inspires as it speaks of nothing more than his modest experiences and outlooks, ones in which we can all identify with on some level. The songs are honest and humble, like the players themselves. Their music is more about evoking a feeling within their audiences than the next blistering guitar solo. Though heavily influenced by the mid 90's rock and grunge scene, Matt Dean and Rhythm Sect are anything but imitation. Their souls combine and flow through their music, creating something truly new, and unique. With influences from Classic Rock to Alternative, Blues, Punk, grunge and Pop you're guaranteed a variety of styles and sounds in which every song is delivered with passion, emotion and a driving raw energy and enthusiasm equal to that of some of the biggest names in music. Hailed by many as a truly moving experience, Matt Dean and Rhythm Sect are a band that should not be missed as a live experience. Go and see them and you will see what is truly missing in the "music" of today.
